The Black Coalition for AIDS Prevention (Black CAP) is a non-profit, community-based organization that serves Toronto’s diverse African, Caribbean and Black (ACB) communities. The mission of the agency is to reduce the transmission of HIV within Toronto’s Black communities while enhancing the quality of life of those living with or affected by HIV/AIDS. Our approach to services recognizes that holistic approaches are required as we work with people who are living with, or at risk for, HIV. Black CAP is an inclusive space which provides services to a diverse ACB population that includes newcomers, LGBTQ communities, youth, and other at-risk populations. Black CAP's E-Learning Coordinator will create an environment where access to supportive and self-help resources are available anytime, anywhere. This will be a forum where interactive and creative modules are developed to help clients with a variety of topics pertaining to their mental health and, continuing to build long term resiliency. Mental health eLearning could span from general information about mental health and mental illnesses to strategy videos detailing how to use mindfulness, breathing and/or other techniques to work through difficult circumstances. It will be used as a blended approach and a safe space for clients to continue to learn positive strategies to work through a crisis. Using coping skills they may have learned with their counsellor; it can serve as a refresher and reinforcement for the information discussed enabling positive behavioural outcomes.
We are seeking an individual with the following qualifications:
- Diploma / Degree in Adult Education or equivalent qualification
- Expertise in delivering Adult Learning Programs and possessing an aptitude for content creation.
- At least 2 years of case management experience and/or front-line experience with vulnerable populations.
- Demonstrated ability in utilizing various E-Learning Platforms and Group facilitation.
- Ability to create and develop modules on a web-based platform.
- Sound group work and community work skills.
- Knowledge of mental illness, medications, and ability to assist clients with symptom management.
- Knowledge of existing Mental Health Resources, systems and referral networks.
- Knowledge of HIV/AIDS, STIs and sexual health issues and the impact of HIV/AIDS in Toronto’s Black, African or Caribbean communities with excellent skills and knowledge of community resources and support available.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to develop goals and service delivery plans with participants
- Experience developing partnerships to achieve program innovation
- Anti-oppressive, anti-racist, and inclusive professional practice.
- Knowledge of MS Office (Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point), internet and email are essential.
- Willingness to work flexible hours including weekdays, evenings and weekends.
- The ability to speak a language other than English is an asset.
